Pastor Garry L. Roberts

 

Garry L. Roberts, the second child of four children was born in Lake Charles, 

Louisiana.  In his early childhood, the family moved to Artesia, New Mexico 

where he continued to reside until moving to Texas.  He is married to Sheila 

Yvonne Nelson Roberts and they have three children and three grandchildren.  

Pastor Roberts was called to the ministry in 1976.  Later he became the 

Assistant to the Pastor at Friendship Baptist Church, Corpus Christi, Texas under 

the leadership of Pastor F. L. Fillmore.  In 1982, he was called to pastor his first 

church, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Mathis, Texas.  A year later, September 

1983 being directed by the Holy Spirit, he became the 12th pastor of the Shiloh 

Missionary Baptist Church in Edna, Texas, serving 28 years. 

Pastor Roberts attended New Mexico State University and to further his 

education in theological studies he enrolled at The College of Biblical Studies in 

Houston, Texas earning an Associate of Science in 2004 and on April 29, 2006 

obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Christian Ministry.  October 12, 2007, 

he obtained two Master of Arts in Theological Studies and Master of Divinity at 

Faith Evangelical Seminary, Tacoma, Washington.  Pastor Roberts continues to 

attend Faith Evangelical Seminary with the anticipation of obtaining a Doctor’s 

Degree in Exposition Preaching.   

A few of Pastor Roberts preceding offices held are two terms as president of the 

Area Wide Ministerial Fellowship of Victoria and Adjacent Counties and 

Congress Dean of the American Baptist Eastern General State Congress.  At this 

time, Pastor Roberts serves as Executive Secretary and Campsite Director of the 

American Baptist Eastern General Association of Texas and Dean of the 

American Baptist Eastern Congress.  

On September 19, 2011 the member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church met and called 

Pastor Garry L. Roberts as the 3rd pastor of Mt. Sinai Baptist.  Pastor Roberts 

answered the church’s call and preached his first sermon as pastor of Mt. Sinai
